It is my belief that Ringo was probably the one Beatle who touched the hearts of almost everyone. He brought out the mothering instinct in all the women, young and old. Mothers and grandmothers wanted to take him home and take care of him. Even we, younger ones, just wanted to cuddle him and shelter him from the world. And he did not appear to be threathening to the male of the species either. Although he was the oldest Beatle, he seemed to be the most vulnerable. My favorite memory of him is his "escape" from his Beatles life in A Hard Day's Night.
I do regret that he never fulfilled his promise as an actor. It is my belief that he could have made a second career out of it. But then, music should be enough for anyone.
I am glad that he has continued his career. He might not be as talented musically as John, Paul, or George; but it is good to see him keeping the faith. I am also pleased to see his close relationship with his sons. The music he brings us these days is filled with joyful exhuberance. It is obvious that he has peace, love, and contentment in his life. May it always remain so.
